Adam has more than 20 years of strategic communication experience, following nearly a decade working in print, radio and television newsrooms.
Since 2015, Adam has served as the public information officer for the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in South Carolina. As a member of Sheriff Jay Koon’s executive staff, he holds the rank of captain and leads the department’s public information unit. In this role, he oversees media relations, crisis communication and issues management, along with the agency’s video productions, social media strategy and digital content.
Adam earned the Executive Public Information Officer certification from the National Disaster & Emergency Management University in 2018 and was designated a Credentialed Public Information Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence's Commission on Professional Credentialing in 2024.
His media career began in 1995 as a freelance correspondent for his hometown newspaper. He later worked as a reporter, anchor, and producer, covering news and sports at radio and television stations, and broadcast networks in South Carolina and Dallas, Texas.
In 2004, Adam transitioned to public service, becoming a spokesperson and public information officer for one of South Carolina’s largest and most prominent state agencies.
In addition to his work in law enforcement communication, Adam is an instructor with FBI-LEEDA and a frequent speaker, trainer and panelist on media relations, social media strategy and digital engagement. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Lander University.
Adam lives in Lexington, South Carolina, with his wife and their two children.
